Hard game, destroyed a bit of my wrist too. Very fun tho, Lumpy's pixelart is awesome and the music is phenomenal. Being able to pause would be nice but it's not the end of the world.
BOI this is difficult, even for me as a casual bullet-hell player. I'm more experienced by using keys, and using mouse makes it imo harder to navigate. But other then that, I'm stunned by the result. Great game and cant wait for your next masterpiece.
Very very difficult, but i've menaged to beat it. Would have made tons of cash if it had been a cabinet in the '90s. I liked it very much.
It's a pity it doesn't have a save function, so one needs to finish it all at once. This is a problem because once one sets the sound options at the start menu, one can't modify them unless one intends to completely start over.
Hi there! I am really enjoying your game. I wanted to give you two pieces of feedback: - I love the power up mechanic, with the rotation of power ups. What I have noticed though is that the speed of the rotation varies depending on the power up. The first one that appears on level 1 has a super fast rotation, but the next ones do not as much. As a player I would expect the power up rotation to have the same speed, and the speed of the latter ones on level 1 are much better. - On that note, it seems that you implemented that if I shoot the power up, it changes the power up type. If you did, great! If you haven't, I strongly recommend you do. - For those who, like me, play on a Mac laptop, the right button is really hard to do. If you can also include a key (like SPACE) to activate the G-Field, that would be awesome, as right now I'm playing the game without using the G-Field, and it's way harder.
Please don't take any of these pieces of feedback as negative. As someone mentioned before, you did a great job about making a shmup with mouse control. It's really enojyable!
Nah, dude, the powerups rotate all the same: they rotate on a timer, but also when you hit them, they rotate. That's why you had the impression it rotated very fast.

I'm very confused how you are all able to play the mac version? When I click the download I'm given a zip file that only has Gar-Type.exe and some random Unity and data files. I was expecting to see a .dmg or at least a separate download link for Mac. Could anyone help?
Lumpy!!! The game is just perfect!!! It's a pity, of course, that Gorefield from that old animation was replaced with virgo Gorefield and movie sonic was replaced with a mechanical Gorefield from mission 4. but the game is perfect!! I went play through it on my phone. After that, I wanted to play origenal R-type on emulator. And by the way, the soundtrack of the second boss phase (OG Gorefield, virgo Gorefield, Mechanical Gorefield) as well as the theme of Mission 2 are my favorite soundtracks in the game!!
This is really good, congrats to you and your team, Lumpy. The G-Field mechanic is actually pretty inspired, I don't know of any other shmups that use teleportation like this. Using it to dodge attacks, especially in the boss fights, and skipping through a tricky section in a stage or making a cheeky hop in and out of an otherwise inaccessible areas for a powerup was pretty cool. I feel like it has a lot of potential.
it was nice to see how some clanky animation memes become a whole damn game. clearly inspired by metal slug and the junji ito living planet (and garfield, obviously), the graphic was well done, the levels and especially the bosses were fun and fairly doable (ive even noticed the virgo gorefield horrorscope if you know what i mean, i wished there were more zodiac bosses). the only thing is that it is a bit brief and that it lacks saving and pause options, but its alright since its in arcade style
Loved the game, it was really fun, the mouse controls for a shmup raised an eyebrow at first but the game was so well designed around them that it just felt perfect and really intuitive, I loved the art and the music, is there going to be a way to get the music?

Good game but the only difficult part to me was the only mouse control... please ad a controller or keyboard support if possible, thanks.
Amazing game and amazing story! How horror combines with action and retro nostalgia. It's difficult and i love it.

Hard - but fair, and of course great art and soundtrack
lumpy my GOAT
Heck, it's difficult. I can't yet accomplish mission 1
Genesis/Megadrive port when?
Ravioli needs a buff. Instead of a powerup, it's a powerdown
FOR REAL. I HATE RAVIOLI GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

that spike gar is an opp
It is a good game but the first level is impossible I have played you 2 hours and still can't beat this horrid level
Great fun, and great aesthetic overall.
What a beautiful masterpiece! But please add a pause button. I was making coffee and almost burned my house down
I love the fact that lumpy made it mobile compatible despite easily being able to make it pc only
I Cried at a Garfield parody game
Absolute masterpiece 💪

couldn't you just play on the web?
To everyone who wanted (some) of the soundtrack: I've made my contributions available on my Bandcamp! Please check it out if you can & share with friends! https://melonadem.bandcamp.com/album/gar-type-the-soundtrack
This game deserve to be a steam game. I would like to listen the soundrack too <3
By the way, where is the Gorefield from this animation?:

i need the soundtrack BAD man
Awesome game! It just saddens me that I had to restart from the first level since it quits the game and not pause it when your press Escape key :(
But... where's Odie?
he is in the co-pilot seat
There's a powerup of two spheres called OD that can block enemy shots

7 outta 10
This is so incredibly well done. I feel bad for not liking shmups, because I want to just experience more of this gooey garfield goodness.

An excellent side-shooter. And those are becoming more rare every year.
The music's amazing! Where can we find the soundtrack?
Super! I like it!
